What is Natural Hair Scholars

Program Overview

We will empower 20 scholars, ages 8–13, in 5 key areas.

  1. Styling and maintaining braids, twist and locs. 

  2. We'll discuss the cultural significance and health benefits of wearing natural hair.

  3. Life skills

    • effective communication

    • positive thinking and affirmations

    • conflict resolution.

  4. Money Management

  5. Entrepreneurship

9:00 – 9:30AM          Continental Breakfast

9:30 – 10:30AM        Culture & Life Skills
10:30 – 11:30AM       Styling Demo & Practice
11:30AM – 12:30PM  Lunch
12:30 – 4:00 PM · Styling Demo & Practice

***Pick‑up time: No later than 4:30 PM***

Camp Equipment Provided

Each scholar will receive:

  • Natural Hair Scholars T‑shirt

  • Backpack for camp materials

  • Mannequin head

  • Styling tools (comb, brush, accessories)

  • Blow dryer

  • Hair care products

Our Team.

Team of experienced professionals will instruct the Natural Hair Scholars in three braiding, twists and locs.  Each bring their unique style and will enrich the lives of their scholars.
